Jubelle Paa (she/her) is a new media artist, programmer, and crafter based in Tkaronto/Toronto. She holds a BSc in Computer Science and Physics from UBC and is currently pursuing an MA in Digital Media at York University.
She is interested in the polysemy of media and the ephemerality of technology. Currently, her research makes artistic use of discarded technology to critique perceptions of diasporic Filipina women in North America. She seeks to interrogate the stereotypical image of the caregiver Filipina, asserting their significance both within and beyond labour.
Her work reinvests value into the desires, labour, and perseverance of diasporic Filipinas through reinvesting value in electronic scraps.
